Kloepfer Called.

While all these abductions and murders were taking place; Elizabeth Kloepfer, Bundy’s girlfriend back in Seattle had her suspicions. Bundy’s car fit the description of the Volkswagen Beetle that multiple witnesses had reported seeing, she had also found multiple objects in her house which she considered to be abnormal; such as a meat cleaver, surgical gloves, stolen medical supply, and a bag of women’s clothing. Whenever she decided she wanted to cut her hair which was long, brown, and parted down the middle (a pattern with his victims), he would become upset; and then there was the fact that she could not account for where he was on any of the nights that the murders took place. So Kloepfer continuously called the Salt Lake County Sheriff Office until they gave her an interview. Bundy was then placed on the top of the list of possible suspects.

Can you imagine finding out that your lover is a possible serial killer? I don’t know if I’d have the guts to turn him in or just flee. How about you, would you be able to condemn your lover to death, even if he/she is a killer?

Why so Curious?

         I am a 20 year old girl who wasn’t even alive when Ted Bundy acted out these chains of murders. Yet when asked to write a research paper for English class this was the topic that I chose. I believe my interest comes from that of fear. This was a real life horror movie, and it could happen again at any time.

           After Bundy was incarcerated he escaped not once, but two times. The first escape only lasted a few days and in those few days he didn't commit any documented murders. The second escape however, took place on December 30, 1977, and he was not re-incarcerated until mid February of 1978. In that time of a month and a half, he had brutally killed 4 known victims.

            So why would anyone be interested in such an "evil" man. Just because someone writes a paper on a serial killer, or reads a book about him.. does that mean they admire him for committing such horrendous acts?

He's Our Next Door Neighbor.

Ted Bundy was a man who admittedly murdered over 30 women throughout his life. His first documented murder took place on January 4, 1974 and started a killing spree in Seattle, Washington that would shock the nation. 
At this time he worked at the Washington State Department of Emergency Services in Olympia, which was a government agency involved in the search for the missing women? He even had a girlfriend by the name of Elizabeth Kloepfer whom he lived with at the time. Bundy was also a law student at UPS Law School in Seattle.

            These bits of information are what really make me so interested in this eerie case. This was an all American man who people trusted; he was going to college, he held a decent and respectable job; yet at the same time he was a vicious serial killer.

            So how do we tell a serial killer apart from someone else, are there any real techniques to keep ourselves safe from these murderous criminals? Women especially, how are we supposed to know that this handsome, gentle, sweet man isn’t going to kill us?
